Let the division size pick the format
Formats by team count (4–20, including 10-team A/B). Multiple divisions in one event can each use a different format. Event level can change how 5-team and 10-team finals are drawn.

Championship first, then fill earlier days
Seat last-day finals and paired semis first (both semis share a kickoff on different courts). On a two-day inventory (a typical club weekend), day 1 stays pool-only, at most two games per team. Championship day never has back-to-back title games — one empty hour between kickoffs.

Advance from scores, not a second tool
Enter scores, publish standings, and advance knockouts in the same competition. Unfilled sides keep placeholder labels until teams are known. Enter PK results as the final score for knockout ties.
