What usually goes wrong

The basketball weekends we hear about break in the same places. None of them are fixed by retyping the grid.

The playbook

Same auto-schedule underneath. These are the first moves for this kind of weekend.

Target games-per-team, then fill
Each league team aims at the configured count. A team may go over only if that helps an opponent reach the target. Placement prefers even counts, then one game per playable week, then avoids two available weeks off in a row. Weeks 1–2 get pushed so nobody sits the opener.

Youth hours are a hard rule
U12-and-under divisions only play 9:00 AM–7:00 PM. The conflict audit flags anything that slips past. Split-day gyms — closed at noon Sunday — are hour cells, not a full day.

Pool play into a bracket, on the same courts
Basketball tournaments set preferred pool size, how many teams advance, the game guarantee, and consolation. Pool play plots onto uploaded courts; the single-elim bracket (and consolation, when the guarantee needs it) seats after. Scores and advance stay in the same competition.

By week and By team before you publish
Directors see coverage week by week and per team. Locks on By team keep the matches you already confirmed. Share the public event page — championship bracket, venue addresses, optional tickets — when the checkers are clean.
